I wanted to make an impact in the growing entrepreneurship and tech ecosystem in my country, and I had heard of Endeavor when I was getting my MBA from Stanford. I started as a mentor when we opened the office in Peru. I got more involved when I invested in Catalyst because I wanted to start an impact investment portfolio and felt this was a way where I could make an impact in the country and be hands on with my investments.
I was an a local selection panel when the current Endeavor Peru managing director pulled me aside and said, “”I’m leaving. Do you want my job?”” I said it was my dream job. I joined Endeavor staff as Managing Director of the Peru office, and I stay involved today because I know Endeavor is the best platform for me to make that impact using local and global resources.
When I was a mentor, it gave me professional satisfaction beyond my “day job.” I felt like all that I had learned working at Silicon Valley startups and for Google for so many years was not always going into what I was doing on a day to day basis, but as a mentor, and now as MD, I can take those years of experience and directly inject it into the ecosystem – now as my “day job!” So, both for personal and professional satisfaction, it’s been a big impact. I also have good visibility for investment opportunities that come into Catalyst and our ecosystem partners. Working with Endeavor brings intensity, a lot of work, and a lot of learning. It has been a very good return on investment of time.
